Austin ISD Food Services is preparing and providing meals for children under the age of 19 at more than 70 locations while school is closed due to COVID-19 precautions.
Starting Monday, April 27, meals will be available at a curbside meal site located at Anderson High School. Curbside meal sites are open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday-Friday. Families are advised to stay in their cars and not enter buildings during meal pick up. Families or children who come by walking/biking/transit will still be able to receive food outside the campuses.
Each child may receive one breakfast and one lunch meal, Monday through Friday. Weekend meal packages are available each Friday, providing breakfast and lunch for Saturday and Sunday. Families are recommended to bring bags to help get their weekend meals home safely on Fridays.
Austin ISD is authorized to provide meals to parents or caregivers for their child — even when the child is not present — provided they have one of the following forms of documentation at the point of meal service.
- Official letter/email from school that shows children as enrolled
- Individual student report cards
- Attendance record from Parent Portal of school website
- Birth certificate for children not in school
- Student ID cards
To maintain a safe physical distance, at curbside sites, parents will tape the documentation to their car window or dash so staff may review through the glass. If the parent or caregiver does not have documentation, the child(ren) must be present to receive meals.

We have several chair positions we are looking to fill next year. Some will need a chair and others a co-chair! It’s a great way to get involved and make a difference for our children and teachers.
Technology / Web Committee (will need 2-3 people) – This committee runs and supports the Hill Elementary website, including school updates (teachers, staff, events, lunch menus, daily schedules, etc) and also assists any PTA committees throughout the year (Open House, Marketplace, Hill Hoopla, Carnival, etc). There are roles in this committee for all skill levers – you don’t have to be a web developer to participate! WordPress and Mailchimp skills are definitely a plus!
Volunteer Coordinator – We need 1 more person to help co-chair this committee. This committee coordinates Volunteer Training, Teacher Appreciation Week, and communicates regularly with Homeroom Parents and Grade Level Parents about school events.
New Parent Coordinator – We need 1 more person to help co-chair this committee. This committee is great for parents who have incoming Kindergartners. This committee meets with other new parents, provides tours of the school, helps coordinate Kinder Orientation and schedules incoming kinder playdates.
Please contact Melanie at president@hillelementary.com if interested or with any questions.
Be part of a special performance of the Hill Elementary School song as we celebrate the groundbreaking of our modernized facility! Simply film your Dillo(s) singing the school song and upload your video to Dropbox HERE.
All video submissions are due by 6pm on Friday, April 24 to be included in a compilation video that will be shared during our virtual groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 10:00 am.
Instructions:
- Have your student sing with the piano part (thanks, Ms. Herb) via headphones. This will help everyone keep the steady beat and make it easier for us to put all of the videos together.
- Center your student (or students) in the screen so we can see them as they sing.
- Be aware of what is in the background of your video, so nothing will distract the audience from your child’s performance.
- Record in a quiet place to cut down on as much background noise as possible.
Click here for the piano accompaniment.
Hill is where we work
and it’s where we play
As we grow and learn
with each passing day.
Standards high, orange and white,
Armadillos shining bright
True to Hill in every way.
Hill’s the best from coast to coast.
May that always be our boast.
Do our best and reach up high.
we are proud of Hill!
