Looking for a way to get involved with PTA but can’t always be at the school? We need volunteers (2-3 people) to help with our Technology/Web Committee. This committee runs and supports the Hill Elementary website, including school updates (teachers, staff, events, lunch menus, daily schedules, etc) and also assists any PTA committees throughout the year (Open House, Marketplace, Hill Hoopla, Carnival, etc). There are roles in this committee for all skill levers – you don’t have to be a web developer to participate! WordPress and Mailchimp skills are definitely a plus! Beginning Monday, April 27, Austin ISD will be mailing Continuous Learning Packets directly to students. Students who qualify to receive free and reduced lunch will be sent packets automatically. If your student does not qualify for free and reduce lunch and you would like to request a packet, please fill out the fields here and they will add your name to the list. Even though the school day looks much different than it did a few short weeks ago, so much happened in the first seven months of the school year. Remember all of those moments with your very own yearbook. All yearbooks must be ordered online this year. Order today!
Distribution of Yearbooks: Due to the factory being nonessential production is shutdown until April 30th. Good news is the yearbook committee submitted the final draft a week early! Hill’s production will be first in line which should result in timely shipping. We will have a better timeline of delivery and distribution once the factory is back up and running. The yearbook committee will work closely with grade committees to ensure books are present at gatherings and celebrations once deemed safe. This year, our district Neuro-sequential Model of Education and SEL teams have held ongoing learning sessions for parents. This month the focus is on student Executive Functioning Skills. Rather than a live Zoom, the team wanted to give flexibility. Click here for a folder of resources, including a guiding PowerPoint, to support parent/guardian learning on this topic.
The Hill Elementary Alumni Scholarship was established in 2011 to honor Hill’s 40th anniversary. It is now called The Suzanne and Vincent Torres Hill Elementary Alumni Scholarship in honor of Mr. Torres and his wife and their dedication to our school and the district. The goal is to recognize former students who have excelled in their academic endeavors, supported their community through service projects and proven they possess a drive to further their education. By granting this scholarship, we encourage students to continue their academic endeavors beyond high school and hope to strengthen the relationship between Hill and its alumni. This year, one scholarship in the amount of $1000 will be awarded. Click here for the application.
