Teacher Appreciation Week starts Monday, May 4th! Take time to show our AMAZING teachers how much we appreciate (and miss!) them! Some suggestions include sending video messages, emails, digital cards or a zoom call. Hill teachers are the BEST from coast to coast! Let’s show them how much we care about them, especially during this time.
Austin Ed Fund is adding its voice to the chorus of #ThankYouTeachers messages, to recognize and thank the teachers who are going above and beyond to reach our students at home. Please share inspiring stories about how teachers are connecting with students. Teachers, principals, staff and families can submit stories through a survey and on social media using #ThankYouTeachers and by tagging @AustinEdFund. Austin Ed Fund will highlight selected stories on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram each day during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-8 and beyond. Dear Hill Community,
It was great connecting with families again on Thursday for our Virtual Principal Coffee. Your questions were thoughtful and appreciated to keep us improving on how we can best support our students during continuous learning. If you missed it, below is a link to a video with all of the current information.
Our number one focus right now is student well-being. We are so proud of the emphasis our staff is putting into checking in on our students who have a spectrum of needs right now. Our stellar counselors have also created a Google Site where parents and guardians can access resources and activities to support all Hill students at home with SEL skills and tools.
We are also proud to announce that Austin ISD will begin serving meals at Anderson High School to any students who need them from 11:00-1:00 every Monday-Friday. Weekend meal kits will also be available on Fridays for each student. Check out https://www.austinisd.org/covid19/meals for more information.
Please note that as of this week, packets will no longer be available for printed work at any AISD location. Families in need of printed work can visit the Learning at all Home website and scroll down briefly on the homepage to find the request button for physical work to be mailed to your home. Students of families who qualify for free and reduced lunch will automatically receive these mailed activity packets.
We are excited as construction on campus is mobilizing! I drove by today and saw a trailer being delivered that will house the project managers. We encourage all community members to join us this Friday for our Virtual Groundbreaking Ceremony. Dr.Cruz, board trustees, and other guests will join us for this big event. We also can’t wait to see some of our student contributions to the festivities!
Please tell your students that I miss seeing them tremendously each day. I am proud of them and am not at all surprised at the resilience they are showing right now. Have a great weekend and see you all Friday!
