We are asking Hill families to find a safe, secure place at home to store any Hill library books for the time being. A safe place might be your child’s backpack, or a designated shelf, cabinet, or closet. Please discuss your chosen safe place among your family members so that it will be easy to remember where you put the books when the time is right for returning everything to the library.
You can recognize which books belong to the Hill library by looking for the following:
Please don’t worry about having library books longer than normal. We are all in this same situation and it is not something we can control right now. If you are not sure what books you or your children have checked out right now, please contact Ms. Pustka, celeste.pustka@austinisd.org and she can look it up for you.
Our number one focus right now is student well-being. We are so proud of the emphasis our staff is putting into checking in on our students who have a spectrum of needs right now. Our stellar counselors have also created a Google Site where parents and guardians can access resources and activities to support all Hill students at home with SEL skills and tools.
NME Resources for Families
This year, our district Neuro-sequential Model of Education and SEL teams have held ongoing learning sessions for parents. This month the focus is on student Executive Functioning Skills. Rather than a live Zoom, the team wanted to give flexibility. Click here for a folder of resources, including a guiding PowerPoint, to support parent/guardian learning on this topic.

Calling all football and cheer fans! Registration for the Trojans Pop Warner 2020 fall season is open! The Trojans Pop Warner Football program provides competitive youth tackle football and cheerleading for kids in Northwest Austin, with an emphasis on good sportsmanship, integrity, opportunity, and academics. Visit our website to learn more about our programs and register: www.trojanpw.com. While we are optimistic about the upcoming season, we have flexible registration, payment, and cancellation plans in place as we navigate COVID-19 closures and cancellations. Visit our website to learn more. GO TROJANS!
Dear Hill Community,
We want to thank everyone who took the time to recognize our outstanding educators during Teacher Appreciation Week. The student messages meant so much as our staff misses seeing our kids at school each day. We know our teachers are the best from coast to coast!
As many of you are aware, our AISD superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz will be moving on to a new position with the University of Texas at the end of the calendar year. We appreciate his leadership and support of our schools these past years. A search firm has been hired and is asking for feedback from the Austin community on what qualities you would like to see in our next school superintendent. We encourage you to visit this link where you can find a survey link to give your thoughts.
As of this week, technology requests for our 3rd-5th graders were mostly distributed, giving needed access to our online continuous learning to more students. Dillo Cheer! At this point if you still have not received your technology request that you completed online, please email either myself, Karla Enloe, or Myra Josey. We can request a pickup for you at Anderson High School that can be completed the next day. We appreciate our community’s patience through this process and thank our incredible technology department as they continue working through this difficult task.
This upcoming week, the district will begin a social media push to get our future Pre-K and Kindergarten students registered for the 2020-2021 school year. We encourage any current or future Hill families to complete the following steps if you haven’t done so already:
Step 1: Complete online registration HERE
Step 2: Complete the Home Language Survey, Hill Student Information Page, and appropriate grade level form (Kinder Information Page or Pre-K4 Application) found HERE.
Step 3: Send a digital copy of the following required documents and the completed forms to hill@austinisd.org.
Required documents:
Please email our Hill Registrar at teresa.carroll@austinisd.org with any questions.
Lastly, I wanted to let everyone know how we are closing down our physical space on campus for the summer. Teachers are in the process of grabbing needed items and packing up student personal belongings in safe rotations over a period of days. After this upcoming Friday, our staff will not be on campus again until we begin preparation for the next school year. Please know that custodial teams will be working to deep clean campus to have it ready for our future return. As we move into the fall, we will have a plan developed to return left student items back to them. Thank you for your understanding and know that I will hold one more parent coffee prior to summer in order to answer any questions you may have as we wrap up this school year.
Thanks as always for reading and have a wonderful week!
