The Kealing Magnet Program provides a challenging and very innovative educational environment for a diverse population of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. The main goal of the Kealing Magnet Program is academic acceleration and excellence. If your child likes to be challenged, Kealing is the place for you. The Kealing curriculum embraces technology as a valid and essential tool for learning. Kealing is more than just a middle school in the Austin Independent School District. Students from all over Austin apply to Kealing’s Magnet Program to take advanced and high school courses in liberal arts, mathematics, and science. 6th grade Kealing students can take such diverse courses as Robotics, Children’s Literature, Ecology, Forensic Science, Comic Books as Literature, Intro to Flight (Aeronautics), and Geology. Just a few of the many choices open to 7th and 8th grade students are Science Fiction, Japanese, Latin, Programming in Java, Software Design, Microbiology, Aquatic Studies, Shakespeare, and Astronomy! And that doesn’t include all the sports, theatre, arts, band and orchestra options available!

Kealing Magnet parents have their own parent group called KMAG. The Kealing Magnet Advisory Group (KMAG) provides volunteer and financial resources to maintain and promote academic excellence, classroom enrichment and diverse academic extracurricular activities for the Magnet Program at Kealing Middle School as well as school wide programs and events.
