What is it?

What is Reflections?

Does your child enjoy creating art or taking photographs?  How about writing stories or poetry?  Maybe they like making up their own music or dances, or even making movies.  If so, encourage them to participate in our Reflections Arts Program!

Reflections is a national, PTA-sponsored program which encourages students to participate in the creative arts.   Each year, students are challenged to create entries that interpret a specific theme.  While it is a contest, our emphasis at Hill is on encouraging participation and celebrating the creativity of all the participants.

Many children feel the best part of all— seeing their entries on display in our Hill Reflections Gallery for everyone to admire and appreciate.

Students may submit one or more entries in the categories of Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Musical Composition, Dance Choreography and Film Production.  Finalists in our school competition (top 20% in each category) will go on to compete at the city level, and possibly the state and national levels.

A word to parents …

Your support and encouragement are vital to your child, but please remember that children need to make their own decisions about what to create and what to enter in the Reflections Program.  By creating their own works of art, children not only learn about the arts, but more importantly, they learn about themselves.
